Biography
Pat Sloan is a guitarist, drummer, composer, and educator from Niagara Falls, ON. He began playing guitar at the age of 13, and soon after began playing drums as well. He studied privately until attending post-secondary. He holds a BA. Hons. from York University, where he studied Jazz and Improvisation - among many other things, with a focus on guitar. He has played in a number of bands as a drummer and guitarist for over 20 years, and as an educator for over ten. He believes in building strong relationships with students by helping them find and follow their interests and strengths, while providing guidance along the way.
Pat’s teaching focus is largely on rock and pop music - guiding students’ learning while letting their interests lead the way in fun, practical lessons where the focus could be on learning songs, theory, or improvisation and jamming on a variety of instruments.
